A quilt for my dad

I set myself a challenge a couple of weeks before my dads birthday.... Can you make a quilt in a weekend?

I started on a Saturday morning with no pattern, no fabrics chosen, but a drive to make something beautiful for my dad!

Luckily I have been collecting fabrics all my life so I set to scouring my stash for fabrics that would make a good man quilt.

I used checks, brown and orange florals and plenty of green, blue and burgundy.

I didn't make a quilt in a weekend, but I didpiece the top.

Last Sunday I pieced the back, sandwiched (gotta love spray baste for speedy projects!), quilted and bound the quilt. On Monday I handed it over.

He loved it!

I love how masculine it is, and it's such a joy to make a quilt for someone you love and to see how much they love it!
